Remember Remember a Girl Does Movember

I also want to raise awareness for women's facial hair. I will be posting CLOSE-UP photos of my upper lip as the dark army approaches. This will be extremely embarrassing so please sponsor me so there is a point.

Recently my best friend asked me advice on removing upper lip hair. Is it best to wax, bleach, pluck or shave? 'Why do you ask me?' I accused (fully aware it's because I'm a hairy thing).

Personally, I'm a plucker. I always carry tweezers. Every couple of days I spot a spider's leg protruding from my jaw, under my chin or - most commonly - on my upper lip. After a bit of twiddling and twanging I pluck the offending hair and marvel at its length and strength.

I am not alone, many naturally dark-haired ladies have this to some extent, whether it's a cute downy fluff or pube-stiff bristles. I lie somewhere in between but definitely nearer the latter.

A guy once tried to brush off a really long one assuming it was normal head hair. When he realised the end was embedded in a follicle on my face he freaked out and pretended he hadn't noticed anything.

That's why I'm doing Movember.

Yes, it is fantastic that it raises awareness of prostate cancer and raises money for research. Yes, it is annoying that the whole of the country goes a bit Shroreditchy. Yes, it is good that some of them look fit.

But I also want to raise awareness for women's facial hair. I will be posting CLOSE-UP photos of my upper lip as the dark army approaches. This will be extremely embarrassing so please sponsor me so there is a point.
