Nick Knowles has admitted he and the rest of the DIY SOS team once had a “massive punch-up” at a pub while filming on location.

In 2019, Nick and co-hosts Mark Millar, Chris Frediani, Julian Perryman and Billy Bryne mark 20 years since they first began working on the home make-over show, and while he says they’ve grown “like a family” in that time, they haven’t been without their bust-ups.

“We’ve all had to deal with various difficulties. We’ve all fallen out at various stages as well,” he told Metro. “It’s happened about four times in 20 years where we’ve had what’s called a walk down the road, where we all take our microphones off and we go down the road and sort out whatever issue we’re having.”

Detailing once particular incident that took place while on location in Scotland, Nick continued: “We once had a massive punch-up when we were on a job in Scotland.

“It was just the stress of the job and various other things. One evening in the pub, whilst we were chatting, we all fell out and had a punch-up and the next morning we went back to work and we got on like a house on fire.”

The DIY SOS team is currently gearing up for this year’s Children In Need special, which saw them renovating a rundown church hall in Blackburn.

Nick said, when the project was first announced over the summer: “As ever it’s an ambitious build but with lots of help from the people of Blackburn and beyond, together, with a few laughs along the way, we’ll be able to achieve something truly special.”

Dubbed The Big Build, the special episode will air on Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
