There was a serving of beef for breakfast on Wednesday, as an online spat between Piers Morgan and Adam Hills spilled over onto Good Morning Britain.

Piers couldn’t resist pulling The Last Leg’s host up on previous comments he’d said about him, as he appeared on the ITV breakfast show alongside Alex Brooker.

Adam had branded the morning TV host a “mercenary” who’d “say anything for ratings/cash/views” last year, after Piers attacked James Bond actor Daniel Craig’s masculinity for wearing a papoose.

Opening the interview with Adam and Alex, Piers said: “Adam, I’ve got a bit of beef.

“Here’s your chance to show some humility and regret the tone because I always thought we got on well and then I pick up Twitter and get abused by you.

“Now you are on my show helping me get ratings, cash and views.”

Revealing he’d expected Piers to confront him on the matter, Adam hit back: “Firstly, in your original tweet you called into question [Daniel Craig’s] masculinity for looking after his own child, which raises several issues.

“Secondly, I know you Piers, and most of this is an act.

“There’s one of two things going on; either you are a terribly odious human being who believes everything he says on TV... Or you are pretending to be a terribly odious human being in order to be paid.”

Claiming to “take issue” with that, Piers responded: “Apparently my odious views are shared by 90% of the country, do you think The Last Leg is just a bunch of smartarse snowflake liberals all arguing over people who have the more mainstream view?”

Adam replied: “Is that worse than being a snowflake liberal but pretending not to be, which is what you do?”

It was then left to Alex and Piers’ co-host Susanna Reid to calm the situation so that the interview could continue.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
