Pippa Middleton and James Matthews have just officially confirmed their engagement.
*Cue speculation of how incredible her wedding dress is going to be.*
The Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister revealed in a statement that she and hedge fund manager Matthews are planning to marry next year, so we have a while to wait.
But in the meantime, behold Middleton’s dazzler of a diamond engagement ring.
Details of the ring and its designer have not yet been announced, but experts are already weighing in on the vintage-inspired style.
Lorna Haddon, a fine jewellery buyer at Beaverbrooks, thinks the ring’s centre stone looks like an asscher cut diamond, complemented by a halo of round brilliant cut diamonds.
“I would expect the ring to be made from platinum,” she said. “It’s the perfect setting for showing off the breathtaking diamonds at their most brilliant best.”
Either way, that is one serious rock.
If you’re a fan of Middleton’s engagement ring, you may be able to nab a similar design at (what we’re guessing is) a fraction of the price.
The London Victorian Ring Company Art Deco Asscher Cut Ring (£2,400), above, bears a striking resemblance to Middleton’s due to the cut of the diamond and placement of the halo.
This Beaverbrooks 18ct White Gold Diamond Ring (£2,200) also boasts a similar halo of smaller glittering diamonds around a central stone.
