Reese Witherspoon has always been a savvy negotiator, it seems.

The Oscar-winning actress has revealed she had a very special clause written into her Legally Blonde contract when she first signed up for the film that catapulted her to international fame.

In the 2001 film, Reese plays the fashion-loving Elle Woods, and it turns out that there were a few – 77, in fact – items in the character’s wardrobe that the star had her eye on from the off.

We’re talking shoes. Designer shoes. Jimmy Choos, to be precise.

In fact, Reese coveted the footwear so much that she stipulated that she could keep Elle’s entire wardrobe after filming wrapped.

Reese made the revelation during an appearance on this week’s The Graham Norton Show.

She told Graham: “I was in England making the Importance of Being Earnest when Legally Blonde came out in America. When I went home, my life had changed forever.

“I kept the whole wardrobe including 77 pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes. I had it written in my contract!”

Reese also admitted she waited until the film’s 15th birthday to get them out of storage.

“I didn’t touch them until the 15th anniversary,” she said. “ And then had a lot of fun trying them on with my daughter.”

Another person who has also been having a lot of fun dressing up as Elle Woods is Kim Kardashian.

The US reality star went all out this Halloween as the iconic Legally Blonde character.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who is currently studying to be a lawyer, slipped into Elle’s signature sparkling pink bikini to recreate the epic Harvard Law application video from the film.

And it didn’t go unnoticed by Reese, who responded in the most Elle Woods way.

Reposting the video on Twitter, The Morning Show actress captioned it: “Elle Woods forever!”

Earlier this week, the 43-year-old star gave fans an update on the proposed third Legally Blonde film.

She told Entertainment Tonight: “It’s just a development project right now, so we’ll see.”

On her favourite characters, she added: “I love Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson and Selma Blair and so there’s so many great characters that people love.

“If we end up doing it, hopefully they end up all being there.”

It was previously reported that the third movie is scheduled to be released on Valentines Day next year.
