Strictly Come Dancing contestant Catherine Tyldesley has learned the hard way that getting deep heat on your intimate areas is really not advisable.

The former Coronation Street actress joked she was feeling “fresh” after accidentally getting the pain relief gel on her “special places” just days after she started training for the BBC ballroom series.

She tweeted: “Note to self... do NOT accidentally get Deep Heat in your ‘special places’... #fresh (sic).”

And while it appears she might be in pain both downstairs and with a dance injury, it hasn’t stopped Catherine throwing herself into training.

She has been getting up at the crack of dawn to practice her moves, ahead of the series’ launch next month.

She tweeted: “I can’t believe I’m going to say this... it’s 5.20am... and all I can think about is dancing!!!!! God I’ve got the bug! Big time!!!!! (sic).”

This year’s Strictly stars came together for the first time this week, as they commenced training and also met the show’s professional dancers.

However, they will have to wait until the launch show to find out who they have been paired with.

Among the other celebrities taking part are RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle Visage, Olympic rower James Cracknell, comedian Chris Ramsey, ex-footballer David James and EastEnders star Emma Barton.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday 7 September.
