Strictly Come Dancing's Kelvin Fletcher Teases What's Next For Him After Winning The Show

While past winners have gone on to star in the West End, that's not what the former Emmerdale star has in mind.

Strictly Come Dancing’s new champion Kelvin Fletcher has spoken about how he plans to make the most from his newly-boosted profile after winning the show.

The actor is best known for playing Andy Sugden in Emmerdale, a role he stepped down from in 2016, and has since devoted his time to the world of motor racing.

In an interview with PA after his win, Kelvin revealed he hoped to return to the acting industry, but wouldn’t be following in the footsteps of past winners Jay McGuiness and Joe McFadden by launching a career on the West End.

As an actor I’ve loved dancing, but for me, drama and film is where I want to be and what I want to do,” he explained.

Kelvin continued: “Hopefully this has been an opportunity for people to see me in a different light, and I’m hopefully confident that I can get back into the acting world. Who knows what the future brings?”

Before that, though, Kelvin has revealed he’s planning a short holiday with his wife and children, revealing: “I’ve felt a little bit guilty being away from them, so I definitely want to take them away, my children, just to see them and hold them.”

Over the weekend, Kelvin gave Strictly professional Oti Mabuse her first ever win, when they triumphed in this year’s live final.

They were voted the public’s winners ahead of EastEnders actress Emma Barton and CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual, who were partnered with Anton Du Beke and Amy Dowden, respectively.

In the new year, viewers will be able to see Oti on the panel of the BBC’s other dance show The Greatest Dancer, alongside Cheryl Tweedy, Matthew Morrison and new addition Todrick Hall.
