'Strictly Come Dancing': Tim Peake 'Top Of Producers' Contestant Wish List'

It will be one small (dance) step for Tim, one giant signing for 'Strictly'.

Tim Peake is reportedly being chased by TV bosses to appear on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The astronaut is said to be top of producers’ wish list to appear on the BBC ballroom show, having returned from six months in space back in June, but they may face a wait before he signs up.

Tim is currently undergoing treatment to recover muscle strength he lost due to zero gravity he experience during his space mission, and is under strict instructions not to do any strenuous activities like dancing, for fear he could break an already weakened bone.

Former MP Ed Balls has been announced as the first celebrity to be taking part in this year’s series of ‘Strictly’, being officially unveiled on Monday.

“I’d like to say I’m just really excited about learning to dance on TV, but the truth is I’m also scared to death,” he said.

“Making a speech in Parliament seems a piece of cake compared to this, but hopefully I can stick around for a couple of weeks, and have a lot of fun in the process.

“’Strictly’ is a firm favourite in our living room, and it feels like a dream to be going on myself, especially for Len’s last series. I’m just hoping it doesn’t turn into a nightmare too quickly!”

Other names rumoured to be taking part include ‘Pop Idol’ winner Will Young, daytime TV star Judge Rinder, ‘This Morning’ pair Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes and presenter Laura Whitmore.

Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have also teased what’s in store from the rest of the line-up, revealing that one name made Claudia scream out loud when she heard it.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns to BBC One next month.
