Before the Big Brother house or the Love Island villa, the Big Breakfast mansion was the most famous TV property, and now it can be yours - if you have a spare £5.7 million, that is.
The east London home has recently been put on the market, giving fans of the 90s Channel 4 breakfast show a chance to own a piece of TV history.
The six-bedroom property, which is a stone’s throw from the Olympic stadium in Stratford, looks unrecognisable from its garish breakfast TV days in pictures from agent Blake Stanley.
Set over three floors, it features a large, open-plan kitchen-living-dining room, a workshop and a sprawling garden boasting a swimming pool.
At present the property is split into two, but with the inter-connecting doors still preserved.
Originally, it was built as three separate Lock Keepers Cottages before being converted into one property for use on the Channel 4 breakfast show.
Shortly after The Big Breakfast was axed in 2002, a fire caused significant damage to the house, which is located on Fish Island in Bow.
After being restored, the house has subsequently featured in the BBC Two show Neneh and Andi Dish It Up, BBC Three’s Singing With the Enemy, and ITV’s Too Fat To Toddle.
The Big Breakfast ran for 10 years on Channel 4 after debuting in 1992.
It was hosted by a number of famous faces over that time, including Chris Evans, Denise Van Outen, Johnny Vaughn, Zoe Ball and Kelly Brook.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Mo Gilligan is set to front a one-off revival of the show in 2021 as part of its Black Takeover Day.
Of hosting the Big Breakfast special, which will air nearly 30 years after the show debuted, Mo said: “Like so many of us, I loved The Big Breakfast and I am so grateful to be asked to host this special event, particularly as part of such a hugely thrilling and history making day for British television!”
