What You Need To Know About The New Citymapper Travel Pass

The weekly pass is cheaper than the Oyster equivalent.

Citymapper has announced the launch of a London travel pass, where you can travel on public transport in the city for cheaper than an Oyster.

The transport app’s ‘Super Pass’ allows subscribers to book their London travel routes on the Tube, overground, rail and buses – all for £31 a week in zones one and two. That’s £4.10 cheaper than the equivalent Oyster travelcard.

The ‘Super Duper Pass’ will cost £39 a week for unlimited travel between zones one and two, unrestricted use of Santander hire bikes and £10 credit to use on the app’s Citymapper Ride, the app’s taxi-sharing service.

Citymapper described the service as a “complete and tailored experience for regular commuters” in an article on Medium, explaining that all transport is integrated in one place. “The idea behind a subscription is that it bundles everything for the user and reduces hassle to make it easier for people to navigate without worrying about details on every trip,” a spokesperson wrote.

The transport app has revealed plans to add other modes of transport, including additional cycle, scooter, cab and car-sharing services to the ‘Super Pass’ over time. Citymapper also hopes to expand the app into other cities, but hasn’t given a date for when that might be.

To buy the Citymapper Pass, you’ll need to have the most updated version of the app. It can be purchased as a physical card, or as a virtual one with Apple and Google pay.

A Transport for London spokesperson told The Independent that Citymapper confirmed TfL will still receive the correct fare for any journeys made.
