Man In Underpants Causes Delays On M8 Motorway In North Lanarkshire (PICTURE)

A man who spent the morning wandering around a busy motorway in his boxer shorts has been detained by police.

The man, clad in just green tartan underwear, was spotted on the M8 motorway in North Lanarkshire at around 7am on Friday.

He crossed both the east and westbound carriageways on foot and at one point was pictured climbing onto the bonnet of a car.

A Police Scotland spokesman tells Huffington Post UK the man was detained on the side of the carriageway and taken to the nearby Wishaw General Hospital to be treated for a head injury.

The rush hour incident resulted in significant delays as the carriageway is the main route between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
