Deb Joffe was born in Johannesburg in 1963, the eldest child of Joel and Vanetta Joffe. Brought up in the UK, she has had an eclectic career as a midwife, teaching assistant, single mother, lecturer, and charity manager. Her lifelong interest has been politics, from campaigning for the Anti-Apartheid Movement in the 198os to being elected as a Green Party city councillor in Bristol in 2015. She is currently studying Sustainable Development with a focus on climate change communication.
