Gemma Williams is an Irish-born fashion curator and writer currently living in London. With a BA in Communications (Film & Broadcasting) , she then completed an MA in Fashion Curation, graduating in 2009.
Since then she has been working in the industry across a variety of roles including archivist, researcher and curator. Previous employees include the Modemusuem, Antwerp, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Laura Ashley and London College of Fashion.
Curation clients include Woolmark, Guoman Group, Fashion Space Gallery, PM Gallery, British Council, British Council Vietnam, Embassy of Ireland and most recently Caprice Holdings.
Her book 'Fashion China' for Thames & Hudson will be published in 2015.
To curate an exhibition of headwear is to capture moments in millinery history. The United Kingdom, with its formal dress occasions and historical class system, has a long and intriguing relationship with hats and headwear.
