Fashion and celebrity stylist, now moonlighting as a shoe designer

Nicole is a versatile creative with over 13 years experience in London’s fashion Industry. After graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a BA Hons in Fashion Design she moved to London to start her career working for Marie Claire Magazine. It was here that she stayed for just over 9 years working her way up the ranks as a stylist in the fashion department, styling, directing and writing fashion stories along with dressing many A list celebrities from Liv Tyler to Simon Cowell. In 2007 she also became the face of Marie Claire T.V. reporting from back stage at fashion week, red carpet events and presenting trend master classes and style advice workshops.

Being a well known stylist and face of MCTV Nicole soon began to appear on many T.V. shows giving her expert opinion on fashion such as, The Clothes Show, Jo Malone High St Dreams, Mary Portas Queen of Shops, GMTV, This Morning, 10 Years Younger, Channel 5 News, UK Living Style Secrets and also appeared in an advertisement for media giant Sony.

In August 2010 after 9 amazing years, Nicole decided to move on from Marie Claire and embark on her freelance career (www.nicolesmallwood.com)
Since leaving she has become Fashion Director of The Hub magazine a luxury fashion and lifestyle title, while continuing to contribute to various other magazines, newspapers and supplements, styling main fashion stories and celebrities.

Alongside her editorial work she also continues to work with a large diverse list of commercial clients styling, directing and writing while also compiling bi-annual trend reports and brand consultations.

Not only is Nicole in demand as a stylist but also as a brand ambassador and style guru. Having completed a series of 20 talks in conjunction with Stylist magazine and Mango called ‘Work It’ she travelled around the country advising women how to look their best in the work place. Following this Mary Portas asked her to prepare a 2 day seminar to teach her new shop staff how to become stylists. Together with this she can also be seen on leading High Street retailers web sites such as Monsoon talking about top trends on a monthly basis.

Her most recent venture is a collaboration with bespoke shoe makers Upper Street where she has designed a range of shoes for size 7-11 feet. Nicole herself has a size 9/10 foot and has always struggled to find fashionable stylish shoes. With this new collection due to launch on the 1st October 2013 sold world wide she hopes that this will at last fill a much needed gap in the market (www.upperstreet.com).

Nicole also runs a bespoke personal styling/shopping service offering her clients everything from a wardrobe overhaul to personal shopping for specific occasions and is also on hand to give trend advice developing each individual’s style (www.nicolesmallwood.com)
