I believe every woman is different and has her own personal style DNA and therefore needs individual, personalised advice on how to create visual balance. I have always been passionate about giving women the relevant advice and the tools to dress themselves in the best way, to create a streamlined look using a woman's individual body shape and colouring.
Women can be more sensitive and think more emotionally. In my experience working with both genders, the women worry if they are worthy and if they deserve it. One client thought if she asked for more she would be sacked because her boss would be cross, and another though he wouldn't like her any more and would make her life difficult in the office.
I'm an ordinary, hard-working woman and have climbed the corporate ladder vigorously. At 25 I was already earning a 6 figure salary & won every award along the way. At 26 I was managing employees 20 years my senior and hosted a business radio show on the side. My whole life up to this stage has just been: Go, go, go! But something lacked.
I am not competent enough to speak about the legacy that will survive Mandela. Nor am I versed in the study of politics to fully appreciate just how extraordinary Mandela's achievements have been. I am qualified to call Mandela one of the most iconic figures of our time and perhaps the 20th century's foremost actor for egalitarianism and liberation.
The career advice that they are given at these events from strong successful women often centres around learning what gets the attention of male bosses, competing in a mans world and being more confident. This is all sound advice and may even help you to be viewed as one of the boys, but is that what we really want?
