House Of Lords Join Twitter @UKHouseofLords

Too Many Tweets Make A ... House Of Lords Now On Twitter

Did Twitter just jump the shark? In our inbox this morning, an email from parliament's upper chamber, the House of Lords, announcing their account.

Despite tweeting since September 5, the account was officially launched by an excited Baroness D’Souza, Lord Speaker on Thursday, who said:

“I hope you will join us @UKHouseofLords and let us know what you think. My hope is that over time @UKHouseofLords will become a really valuable way for us to speak with you, the public on whose behalf we work, directly.

“We have a reputation for leading the way in opening our work to the public, from being the first second chamber to be televised back in 1985 to becoming the first and only upper chamber in the world to have a cross-party blog.

“That is why I want @UKHouseofLords to offer an extra way of working with us, enthusing and engaging more people than ever before in the vital work the Lords does.”
