British Bobsleighers Seriously Injured In British Championships Training Crash

British Bobsleighers Suffer Head And Spine Injuries In Training Crash

A pair of female British bobsleighers have been seriously injured during their British Championships training in Winterberg, Germany.

Brakewoman Serita Shone is reported to have suffered a fractured spine during the training crash.

The 22-year-old has undergone emergency training, while her team-mate Fiona Harrison suffered a head injury.

GB performance director Gary Anderson told the BBC: "Serita has had spinal surgery and is still under sedation. My focus is now on the two athletes and their families."

Shone only joined the GB bobsleigh team this year from athletics. Harrison, 29, was also a former heptathlete and she remains under observation for her injury.

The British Championships start in Germany on Friday.
