Detectives are appealing for information after they found the body of a man who possibly lay undetected in his house for months.
Police found the corpse, believed to be that of Stuart Bolton, 42, after members of the public reported their concerns.
Officers entered a house on Wordsworth Terrace, Chorley, Lancashire, at 1.30pm on Friday.
Formal identification is yet to be confirmed and the cause of his death is unknown but police are not treating it as suspicious.
Detective Inspector Graham Coates said: "Stuart lived alone but was well known in the Chorley area.
"I would appeal to anybody that has seen Mr Bolton over the past six months to make contact with Lancashire Police."
Lancashire Police issued a statement saying: "Police believe his body may have been there for several weeks or months and are appealing for anybody that knew Stuart Bolton and has seen him over the past six months to contact police."
