Jason Lees 'Throws Son Off Story Bridge In Murder Suicide', Brisbane, Australia

Murder Suicide Probed As Teacher Throws Son, 2, Off Bridge

A two-year-old boy has died after he was apparently hurled off a bridge by his own father.

The toddler’s father then took his own life by throwing himself off the same structure, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Jason Lees leaped off the Story Bridge in Brisbane, Australia, in the early hours of yesterday morning after leaving the home he shared with his psychologist wife Danielle, police said.

The 40-year-old drove to Kangaroo Point before strapping his son into a baby bicycle seat and pedalling to the outbound side of the bridge.

Leeds was a teacher at Brisbane’s Anglican Church Grammar School and an International Seven’s rugby referee.

Headmaster Jonathan Hensman told the Courier Mail it was a day of “shock and sadness”.

He said: “He was an outstanding teacher and very generous contributor to the whole of our program not just the classroom which of course adds to the shock of the circumstances surrounding this."

Police have refused to comment as to whether Lees was involved in a custody battle.

The incident comes five months after a mentally ill woman committed suicide on the same spot after killing her daughter, The Sun said.
