Prince Harry Receives Rock Star Welcome At Nassau Stadium (PICTURES)

When Harry Met... Miss Bahamas

Prince Harry received a reception reserved for rock stars when he arrived at a stadium to celebrate the achievements of Bahamas' youth.

A deafening scream went up when the royal emerged on to the trackside and took his seat for the event in the capital Nassau.

Harry is touring the Caribbean to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and yesterday attended a thanksgiving cathedral service in honour of his grandmother.

The prince recently visited Belize, drinking rum and dancing on his first solo royal tour.

He had adopted a smart but casual look for the event, wearing a cream suit, white shirt but no tie and quickly donned a pair of sunglasses against the bright sunshine.

Nearby in the stands of the Thomas A Robinson stadium were thousands of school children who were waiting for their classmates to march past and cadets, rangers, scouts and other youth groups.

Harry sat on a small dais close to a long jump sand pit and was talked through the event by Bahamas' minister for youth, sports and culture Charles Maynard.

Also in the stands was one of the Caribbean country's famous faces Miss Bahamas, Anastagia Pierre, the 23-year-old national beauty pageant winner who yesterday described the royal as a "hot" bachelor she had her eye on.
