Good Samaritan Killed As He Broke Up Takeaway Shop Brawl

Police are investigating the "tragic" death of a Good Samaritan who was killed as he attempted to break up a late-night brawl in a takeaway shop.

Ricky Guest-Binns, 44, was knocked unconscious in the early hours of yesterday morning at the Chicken Express takeaway on Caunce Street in Blackpool.

He was taken to hospital but died from injuries police believe he sustained after trying to split up a fight which broke out between a man and a member of staff at 1am.

Lancashire Constabulary are seeking to speak with a white man between 23 and 26 years old in connection with the incident.

He is described as around 5ft 7ins and of medium build and was wearing a navy blue and white striped T-shirt, a grey hooded top and jeans.

Detective Superintendent Andy Murphy said: "This is a tragic loss of life.

"We believe the victim was a respectable man who was trying to do the right thing and as a result has been assaulted.

"We believe the answer lies in the local area, someone out there has the answer we are looking for and we would urge them to come forward and do the right thing by contacting police.

"I would also appeal directly to the people involved.

"If you were involved, or know who was, please come forward and contact police to tell us what you know."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting log number LC-20120505-0100 or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
