Ched Evans has complained that he has "no faith in the justice system" after being convicted of raping a woman in a hotel room.
The Sheffield United striker wrote in a letter to his mum that he had been left with "nothing". The player, now in Altcourse Prison in Liverpool, wrote:
"People are being nice but I don’t know whether they are being genuine, but I have nothing anyway."
“I have no faith in the justice system, I miss you lot like mad and cannot wait to see you.”
The letter was posted on a Facebook page set up by friends and family calling for his retrial.
Evans was jailed for five years in April for raping a teenager in a hotel near Rhyl, North Wales.
Seventeen people have been arrested in connection with the alleged naming of Ched Evans' 19-year old victim on Twitter.
