Man Drowns After Rescuing Two Children From Sea At West Wittering

A man has died trying to rescue two children from the sea on the Sussex coastline.

The 25-year-old drowned after jumping in to save two children who appeared to be having trouble staying afloat on their rubber ring, reports Sky News.

The incident happened on the West Wittering estate near Chichester, West Sussex, at about 12.45pm on Saturday. The man managed to get the two children to safety before getting into difficulties himself.

A Solent Coastguard spokesman said: "A man was pulled from the water on the West Wittering estate after he had tried to help two children.

"Their mother was understandably upset that this man had had this accident when he had tried to help them."
