Michael Owen Confirmed By Premier League For Stoke City

Stoke Here We Come!

Michael Owen has finally been cleared by the Premier League to play as striker for Stoke City after his release from Manchester United at the end of last season.

There was a tense wait as both the player and the club were made to sweat over whether the Premier League would consider the striker eligible but Stoke tweeted this image of a smiling Owen on Thursday.

Here he is! The first picture of Michael Owen with a Stoke City shirt after arriving at Clayton Wood this morning

Although Owen is available for selection for the next Premier League fixture against champions Manchester City, he is unlikely to feature due to a lack of fitness.

The notoriously injury-prone attacker has been keeping himself in shape during the summer but has not spent a pre-season with a club and will subsequently spend the next few days on an individual training regime.

The following picture is circulating on Twitter as the striker appears to be constantly in the wars. The caption read: "Owen arrived at Stoke in his own personal ambulance

He will then battle it out with Jonathan Walters, Peter Crouch, Cameron Jerome and Kenwyne Jones for a starting place, with fellow striker Mamady Sidibe excluded from Pulis' 25-man squad.

He tweeted a few days ago: "The tools of my trade are stacked and ready to go!"
