Ryanair Calls Spanish Police To Eject Passenger, Customers Claim It Was Over Hand Luggage (VIDEO)

Was This Woman Ejected From Ryanair By Police Over A Book?

Spanish police removed a woman from a Ryanair flight - minutes before take-off- with passengers claiming it was because she had the wrong kind of hand-luggage.

Ryanair strongly deny the ruckus had anything to do with luggage restrictions, and claim police were called to deal with disruptive behaviour.

The unidentified woman was carrying a book and a rolled-up scroll, was seen arguing with Civil Guard officers in a video posted by a fellow passenger, as the airline refused to let her stay onboard at Valencia's Manises airport.

Occupants of the plane shout "shameful!" as the tussle continues, in the video uploaded by "Lucas Sevilla" on YouTube.

He wrote underneath: "They took her off the plane by force, because of a simple book and a scroll which will not fit in a suitcase, even though we begged to let us put it ours."

Soraya Pla posted the video on her Facebook, and another witness gave her account in the comments.

According to the comments from passengers, the woman had begged passengers to take her scroll in their bags, and said she had attempted to pay the extra 50 euros charge, but her card was not working.

One wrote: "The stewardess and the guard would not let us help her. It saddens me the lack of empathy and humanity, and it was very hard to watch. Someone should apply some common sense, even with these rules."

The video has gone viral, with more than 1000 shares on Facebook and 44,000 views on You Tube.

A spokesman from Ryanair told The Huffington Post UK: “This passenger was in breach of airport security regulations*, and having become disruptive was properly removed from the aircraft at the request of Ryanair agents.

"She pushed past gate agents without showing ID or having her boarding card examined."
