An 18-year-old man was on Thursday charged with the rape of an 11-year-old girl who was on her way home from school, police said.
Opemipo Jaji was also charged with attempted rape following the attack on the schoolgirl in Edmonton, north London, on Friday.
He will appear at Enfield Magistrates' Court on Thursday, Scotland Yard said.
The schoolgirl was allegedly attacked in Jubilee Park, Enfield, north London, on Friday as she walked her normal route home.
She had caught a 192 bus from school in Enfield at around 4.30pm, and got off in Bury Street at around 5pm before reportedly being grabbed as she walked along Galliard Road.
Officers carried out an "extensive" search of the park and members of the public responded to an appeal for witnesses with "helpful information", police said.
