Teacher's Touching Note On Student's 'Coming Out As Gay' Essay

'If People Aren't Comfortable With Your Honesty - Their Loss My Friend'

If you're in need of having your faith in humanity restored, then a teacher's touching note on a student's essay about coming out as gay is a sure fire way to do it.

The essay, which has gone viral after being published on BuzzFeed and Reddit, was part of an English assignment where students were asked to write about "the weight I carry daily".

One student, who has remained anonymous, wrote theirs in a letter form to their teacher, saying: "I wish to write to you about the biggest thing I carry... I've carried this for so long because of fear... I'm afraid of certain people finding this weight. I'm afraid of them finding the weight and thinking differently of me... Hating me."

In response to the letter, the student's teacher wrote: "I am HONOURED to be a witness to this weight being lifted off. You are an amazing, dynamic, compassionate 'worth it' young man who will give the world a gift just by being YOU offering your love and spirit. If people choose not to be comfortable with your honesty - their loss my friend - their loss."

It's certainly got us feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
