The Bank Holiday weekend is set to conclude in typically unsettled fashion with up to an inch of rain expected in some areas but warm and dry weather forecast elsewhere.
Temperatures are expected to be between 17C and 19C across much of the country but western areas will see heavy showers in the afternoon, with up to an inch expected in Wales and south west Scotland.

Much of the UK basked in glorious sunshine yesterday with the village of Leeming in North Yorkshire boasting the highest temperature of 20.1C.
London and the South East reached 20C, but there was rain in Northern Ireland and north west Scotland.

Motor sport fans could be seen enjoying the sunshine at the Superbike World Championships at Donington Park in Leicestershire, but it was a different story for revellers at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Londonderry, with many getting a soaking as they watched their favourite music acts.

Paul Mott, forecaster with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said: "From East Yorkshire down to Kent and Sussex there will be plenty of sunshine, with London and Norfolk seeing the highest temperatures.
"Further west and north it's going to be cloudier and breezier with rain falling by the afternoon."
The rest of the week is likely to bring widespread cool and unsettled weather, he added.
