Bus Left Embedded In House After Collision With Car In Long Eaton

'Like The Blitz': Bus Collides With House

A bus was left embedded in the side of a house after it collided with a car.

Derbyshire Police are investigating the incident which involved a Trent Barton bus and a silver Ford Ka in Long Eaton, Derbyshire.

The damage to the semi-detached property on Beresford Road will need to be assessed by a structural engineer before the bus is removed.

The homeowner emerged unhurt from the rubble

Homeowner Gordon Plummer was in his lounge when he heard a noise "like a loud explosion".

He told the BBC: "I was in the blitz in Sheffield, so I was quite used to all these explosions.

"I leapt up, opened the lounge door and, much to my horror, the whole of the passageway and the stairs was blocked by rubble."

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Police said they were called to reports of a bus having left the road and gone into a house on Beresford Road just after 1pm.

Officers attended the scene and found the bus embedded in the side of the property.

The bus is believed to have collided with a silver Ford Ka, then left the road, the spokeswoman added.

The drivers of the two vehicles received minor injuries which did not need hospital treatment. A passenger travelling on the bus was uninjured.

Police are investigating the incident and will check the bus to see whether it had any vehicle failures, the spokeswoman said.
