The daughter and son-in-law of an elderly couple found buried in their own back garden have appeared in court charged with their murders.
Susan Edwards, 55, and Christopher Edwards, 57, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for a preliminary hearing - the pair spoke only to confirm their names.
They are accused of murdering William and Patricia Wycherley, who disappeared from their home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, in 1998.
Police launched a murder investigation after two sets of human remains were recovered from the garden of the Wycherleys' home in Blenheim Close, Forest Town, in October this year.
Post-mortem examinations established that both people died as a result of being shot.
The remains - discovered after a tip-off - have not been formally identified but officers believe them to be those of Mr and Mrs Wycherley, who would now be 100 and 79 respectively.
Mr and Mrs Edwards, of no fixed address, were arrested at St Pancras International railway station in London on October 30 and were remanded in custody at a court hearing earlier this month.
A provisional trial date has been set for 2 June next year.
Judge Michael Stokes QC remanded the pair into custody. They will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 3 February for a plea and case management hearing.
