Since the news broke that Cheryl Cole had tied the knot with her new French beau Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, her footballer ex-husband Ashley Cole had been keeping schtum about the whole thing - that is until he shared a photo of the newlyweds on his Twitter page.
After eight years playing football with Chelsea, Ashley recently moved to a brand new squad, A.S. Roma, though by the looks of a recent team photo, it doesn’t seem like he’s really fitting in with his new teammates.
Ever since the awkward-looking photo appeared online, social media users have been sharing various doctored versions of it, the funniest of which sees him photoshopped outside the window of a room where his ex-wife and her new man are posing for a picture.
Thankfully, when one of his Twitter followers shared the picture with him, Ashley saw the funny side, adding the caption: “I’ll give you this as your day, I’m coming 4u”
The couple were married for four years, but Cheryl ultimately filed for divorce after a string of allegations that Ashley had been unfaithful, citing the footballer’s “unreasonable behaviour” as the reason for their split.
After marrying her new man, it’s believed that the former Girls Aloud singer is so determined to put her old relationship behind her that she’ll be dropping ‘Cole’ as her surname, and instead will be known for official purposes as Cheryl Fernandez-Versini from now on, including when ‘The X Factor’ returns to screens later this year.
Although they initially got hitched on the remote island of Mustique, with just four guests in attendance, the happy couple recently held a second lavish bash for their friends and family in London to celebrate their recent nuptials.
