Anyone looking forward to Claire King’s upcoming appearance on ‘Coronation Street’ will be pleased to hear she’s sticking around on the cobbles for longer than we initially thought.

It was announced back in September that the former ‘Emmerdale’ star would be trading the Woolpack for the Rovers Return and arriving in Weatherfield next month, playing Erika, an old friend of Liz McDonald’s.

However, while it was first reported that her character would only be in ‘Corrie’ for a matter of weeks, it seems that producers have had a change of heart and will be bringing her back in the not-too-distant future.

Speaking to Digital Spy over the weekend, the soap’s producer Stuart Blackburn said: “I can confirm that Claire will be coming back. What an asset to a show.”

When quizzed about how long Claire’s stint in the role would last, he explained: “At the moment, the story has got a natural end to it, but let's just see how it goes.

"The danger is that you find a really good actor and stick them in regardless of story. We've got a story and it's not forever, but we'll take it from there.”

Erika is set to cause trouble from the offset when she arrives in ‘Corrie’, setting her sights on Nick Tilsley and wasting no time in seducing him - which we’re sure his mum, Gail McIntyre, will be simply thrilled about.

In addition to her iconic role as “soap bitch” Kim Tate in ‘Emmerdale’, Claire made an appearance in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ over the summer, but had to withdraw from the show due to ill health.
