Former Fox News Employee 'Shoots Self Outside NY News Corp' Building

A man has reportedly shot and killed himself outside Fox News headquarters in New York.

The 41-year-old man died after the shooting at the News Corp building in midtown Manhattan at around 9 am on Monday.

The building also houses the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal.

The Wall Street Journal identified the man as Philip Perea of Irving, Texas and writes he had previously worked for a Fox station in Austin, Texas.

It cites a source which claims Perea was handing out fliers criticising his former employer of having “ended my career” moments before shooting himself in the chest. A weapon was recovered at the scene, and no one else was injured.

The Austin Chronicle ran a piece in July describing Perea as a “promotion producer at Fox” in a report detailing his “imminent suspension”.

A video entitled ‘The American Workplace Bully: How Fox News ended my career’ has been posted on Twitter and purportedly features Perea talking about why he was dismissed.

News Corp is controlled by Rupert Murdoch.
