Virtual Reality Replaces In-Flight Entertainment For Qantas First Class Passengers

Virtual Reality Is Replacing The In-Flight Movie

Qantas has announced that it'll be introducing Samsung Gear VR headsets and Samsung Galaxy Note 4s on certain long haul flights.

If you're lucky enough to be flying First Class from LA to Sydney then you'll be asked if you want to escape to your own virtual world via Samsung's virtual reality headset.

Passengers either in the First Class Lounge or in the First Class cabins will be given the chance to watch the latest blockbusters through the headset.

While just a headstrap on its own, the Gear VR is paired with the huge 2K screen of the Galaxy Note 4, turning both into a fully-fledged virtual reality headset.

Developed in conjunction with Oculus, the Gear VR will let you watch films, play games and -- if you're feeling particularly fed up with the world -- escape to another world.

Don't worry if you're not part of the 0.01 per cent that can actually afford Qantas first class, this is simply a three month trial that could lead to the company rolling them out on a much wider stage.
