The Swatch Smart Watch Won't Need To Be Charged

Swatches Smart Watch Never Needs Charging

Swatch is getting ready to release a smart watch that can rival the Apple Watch and will never have to be charged.

Speaking to Bloomberg Business, Swatch's CEO Nick Hayek confirmed that the smartwatch would use NFC to communicate with Android and Windows Phones and would utilise a technology that allows it to charge itself.

Swatch already has a range of watches that utilise touchscreens and complex sensors but it appears as though the brand is now ready to take that one step further with a fully fledged smartwatch.

The watch will reportedly be brightly coloured and plastic with a lean towards being stylish and fun. Apparently other features include a wireless payment system that'll allow people to pay using their watch.

How similar the service will be to Apple Pay remains to be seen and considering that Apple Pay is yet to launch in the UK Swatch could be looking to beat them to it.

The Apple Watch will be available to buy in April with a reported launch event taking place in March to coincide with Mobile World Congress 2015.
