Space X came one step closer this week to creating a rocket that could launch cargo into space and then safely land itself on a floating space port.
Elon Musk's company attempted to land its Falcon 9 first stage on the floating barge which the company has rather affectionately called 'Just Read The Instructions'.

While the landing itself was a success, the rocket suffered from excess lateral velocity, causing it to fall over at the last minute.
All things considered this is still an incredible feat of engineering. The company has created a rocket that can launch into space and then actually land itself on a floating barge.
