A councillor who said that lesbians should get “a Barbie doll if they want to play at being a mum” has not broken any rules of conduct.
According to Wales Online, independent Torfaen councillor Mike Harris left a comment on Facebook regarding a post entitled “NHS to fund sperm bank for lesbians”, which said: “Totally and ethically wrong in my opinion! They should buy a Barbie doll if they want to play at being a mum.”
He also used the term “Muzzy” in a post regarding an article entitled “Hamas executes 11 Israeli informers”.
Although Torfaen’s council committee decided the comments were offensive, they did not breach their code of conduct.
Harris told Wales Online: "I wasn't cautioned, I wasn't censured. I wasn't found in breach. There was no action.”

He added: "It's a victory for freedom of speech. It's right and just that they found no breach.”
A report by the committee said: “The Committee, whilst concluding that both postings were offensive, did not consider that they were so egregious to justify an exception to the freedom of expression under common law, statute or the convention and therefore concluded that there was no breach of the Code in relation to both postings.”
Online reaction to Harris’ comments was less kind.
On Twitter, Marsha Graham described him as an “ignorant prick”, while Jennifer Adams labelled him a “jackass”.
