UPDATE: More than 70 firefighters have extinguished a huge blaze at an industrial site in Enfield where a large part of a pallet yard and nearby cars caught alight.
The fire was visible across London and the Brigade's 999 control took 26 calls to the incident.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said earlier: “Firefighters are at the scene tackling the industrial unit blaze. There is a lot of thick black smoke in the local area so we’d ask local residents to close their doors and windows.
"A number of gas cylinders are involved in the fire. Fire crews will be cooling them down as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat."
The Brigade was called at 10.10am. Fire crews from Enfield and surrounding stations are at the scene and residents from nearby buildings are being evacuated.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
