'Top Gear' Host Chris Evans Reveals New Presenting Team Has Been Decided

Chris Evans Teases New 'Top Gear' Team

Chris Evans has teased ‘Top Gear’ fans, revealing that the new presenting line-up has officially been confirmed.

Next year, Chris will front a newly-revamped version of the show, following Jeremy Clarkson’s controversial departure, alongside a new presenting team, who were discovered via an open audition process.

Although he’s not yet ready to disclose their identities, Chris has teased loyal ‘Top Gear’ viewers with the news his co-hosts have been chosen, telling Nick Grimshaw on his BBC Radio One show: “There will be announcements pending.

“We did look at every single of [the auditions], and we called back a few people and we invited those people down to the ‘Top Gear’ track at Dunsfold Aerodrome, and gave them full-on scripted multi-camera auditions.”

Speaking about the new recruits, he added: “Some people may have done a bit of telly, but they are from these auditions ... It's on the telly in May but we start filming next Wednesday.”

Nick also jokingly asked why his audition tape hadn’t been selected, to which Chris responded: “It's not rocket science is it my friend. Obviously it wasn't good enough!”

Earlier this month, Chris confirmed that ‘Top Gear’ would be returning to our screens in May, while also revealing that he may well be doing away with the three-presenter format that made the show so popular for over a decade.

Meanwhile, departed presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have all signed a deal to front two series of a brand new car show for streaming service, Amazon Prime.

Filming for their as-of-yet unnamed project began at the start of October.
