'Star Wars' Actor Peter Mayhew Invites Daniel Fleetwood's Widow To House Over Christmas

Chewbacca Actor Invites 'Star Wars' Fan's Widow To Home At Christmas

The wife of late 'Star Wars' fan Daniel Fleetwood had a wonderful surprise this Christmas, after Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew invited her to his farm.

Ashley Fleetwood shared pictures of the special day on Facebook and thanked Peter and his wife Angie for inviting her and her family to their "wonderful home". She added: "They were so welcoming and kind."

Ashley and her family were also given a grand tour of Mayhew's personal museum devoted to his 'Star Wars' character, Chewie.

Ashley made news earlier this year when she launched a special social media campaign to get permission for her husband Daniel Fleetwood - who was suffering from a rare form of cancer - to see the new 'Star Wars' film before its release date.

Daniel, who was an avid 'Star Wars' fan, was diagnosed with a rare form of connective tissue cancer called spindle cell sarcoma earlier this year. In July, he was given just two months to live.

The 32-year-old said he was "holding on" to see 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', however he feared he might not make it.

Thanks to Ashley's ingenious social media campaign, which was shared by the likes of actors Mark Hamill and John Boyega, Daniel was granted his dying wish to see the new film ahead of its release date.

Sadly, two weeks after seeing the film, he passed away.

Ashley revealed that while her husband was still alive, Mayhew and his wife Skyped the couple and invited them both to visit. However Daniel was too ill.

After her husband passed away, they extended the invitation once again to Ashley and her family.

She told Entertainment Tonight: "I asked if, for my dad’s 60th birthday, we could maybe visit. They said 'yes' and were so welcoming."

And as if the trip itself wasn't brilliant enough, a photograph of Daniel also made it into Mayhew's museum as a tribute to the super fan.

They added Daniel!
