Queen Elizabeth II announced on Wednesday she would be taking the United States Of America back under British control after things had "gone too far".

"One is highly disturbed at the way this country has turned out," Her Majesty told reporters at Buckingham Palace. "We sat aside through George W. Bush, and even the prospect of Sarah Palin in the White House.

"But this is the final straw. When Sarah Palin shares a stage with Donald Trump, you know things have gone too far."

It is not clear how Her Majesty intends to carry out her plans to retake the country.

When approached for comment, Sarah Palin told HuffPost UK: "Well jiminy cripes you betcha guns and God are great aren't they? I can see Russia from my house."

A translator has been sought to make sense of Palin's quote.
