International Women's Day is an event to mark the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of those who have been suppressed and unrecognised for centuries.
Remarkably however, there are still men - presumably jealous they never had to fight for the vote, demand an equitable salary or call for proper representation in public life - who can't resist thinking it's all about them...
When is International Mens Day, or are we done with all the equality ballshit now or something?— Lewis Crowhurst (@LJCrowhurst) March 8, 2016
There is indeed an International Men's Day that focuses on men's and boy's health, improving gender relations and promoting gender equality. It's November 19.
It's #InternationalWomensDay. Don't embarrass yourself by asking why there's no international men's day. There is. Nov 19th. You're welcome.— Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) March 8, 2016
I'm thinking we should swop #IWD for the other 364 days of the year when half the population of the world apparently aren't a priority?— Mariella Frostrup (@mariellaf1) March 7, 2016
To remedy many people's ignorance of 'International Men's Day' one male British comedian spends the whole of March 8 correcting and firing hilarious replies to the incensed and the outraged.
Nov 19 RT @YaleWSmith: It's national women's day? When is national men's day, this seems kind of sexist— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
Nov 19 RT @UKFTAYLOR: National women's day to celebrate women's equality but where's national men's day to do the same?! 🤔 the irony..— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
Yes there is. November 19th. Just responding RT @notlistenning1: Is there an International men's day? Just saying— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
Richard Herring, a writer and comedian who has worked with personalities including Stephen Merchant, Russell Brand and Stephen Fry, uses the opportunity to put right some wrongs in the world with quite a large dollop of humour.
I waited for it last November 19th, but there was no uproar RT @Denton_james: Imagine the uproar if we had an international mens day— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
You are wrong. Nov 19 RT @lmaohobbie: Correct me if I'm wrong but we have int women's days but I don't remember international men's day 😬— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
Except for November 19th, but otherwise good point RT @gabs_taylor13: so the world wants equality, yet there's an int woman's day+ not men's— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
He's perched with his daughter, Phoebe, literally just trolling the trolls all day.
Working on this with my own international woman (she wants little baby bum back on) pic.twitter.com/GmpLjrxh2n— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
Have I been going for three and a half hours. Hope my baby is ok.— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
And it's just excellent.
Maybe use a 21st C search engine. Nov 19 RT @greencalx: searched Alta-vista for International Mens day+got nothing. How's that 4 equality?!!— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
It's November 19th. Stand down RT @scruffysausage: When is International Men's Day then? Or are we not worthy or downtrodden enough— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) March 8, 2016
