Cara Delevingne has made no secret of the fact she hopes to cross from catwalk to silver screen in the not too distant future. But we weren't expecting this.

According to reports, the 21-year-old Brit supermodel has signed up to star in a new film based on the highly controversial Amanda Knox story.

The Face of an Angel, which will be directed by Michael Winterbottom, will be based on the tragic real-life events that took place in Italy in 2007.

Amanda and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were found guilty of killing British student Meredith Kercher in 2009 after her body was discovered in the home she shared with Amanda. Their guilty verdicts were overturned in 2011 and a retrial is now underway in Florence without Amanda or Raffaele present.

Not exactly an easy first film for a rookie actress. While Cara won't be taking the lead role, we can imagine it'll be an emotional roller coaster for the happy-go-lucky model.

A source reportedly told The Mirror: "It doesn't look like Cara will be playing Foxy Knoxy but she will have a major role, as the director wants to focus on events surrounding the trial and the people whose lives have been affected by it.

"Getting Cara is a real coup for the film but is also brilliant for her career. It proves she's an in-demand actress and will help to boost her career Stateside.

"She has been thinking about relocating there and, with big film offers coming in, it's looking likely movies will soon be Cara's main focus."

While we wait to find out more details, enjoy Cara's style file...
