Cat Lovers

I started panicking, putting posters up, contacting every cat loving organisation and tweeting frantically, and if I'm honest it's been a shoddy few weeks since that night. We miss her incredibly and can't get over how much.

A few Thursdays ago (on the 9th October) my cat Gilbert (she's a girl cat with a boy name, get over it, we're retro) went missing.

I let her out at 9pm and instead of her rocking up at 6am at our windowsill crying for breakfast (like her mother, she's a right talker), she never showed.

After a day, I started panicking, putting posters up, contacting every cat loving organisation and tweeting frantically, and if I'm honest it's been a shoddy few weeks since that night. We miss her incredibly and can't get over how much.

If there's one small positive to come from this, from losing the best cat I've ever known, it's realising that we are a pet loving nation.

I've had thousands of retweets, an old school friend I've not seen or spoke to in years go out of her way to flyer, hundreds of nice messages and a shed load of celebrities getting involved by retweeting. People I don't know, be so kind.

I knew after "Cat Bin Lady" that we take our furry little friends very seriously in this country, but I had no idea to what extent.

At first I felt silly being so devastatingly distraught over Gilbert going missing, but the more I talk to people about their pets, the less silly I feel.

So this is my message to London, the friends, the pals on Facebook and 'yet knowns' on Twitter, the celebrities and random cat lovers who found me by accident, I haven't found my beloved pet yet, but I did my find my faith in people and for that I applaud you all.
