Mum Hits Back At Criticism After Allowing Young Daughters To Star In Makeup Tutorials

'This makes me feel uncomfortable.'

A mum has defended allowing her two young daughters to take part in makeup tutorial videos on Instagram

Courtney McCutcheon, 28, from the US, shares clips of her five-year-old daughter Molly and three-year-old daughter June contouring to her 38,000 followers.

And people aren’t impressed.

“Trying to make your child look like an adult is disgusting,” someone commented on her Instagram video.

“She has her whole life to do makeup, why do it at this age?”

Another commented on her most recent video of her three-year-old: “I hope you teach her that wearing that much makeup will age her face a lot faster than if she were to not wear makeup.

“She is way too young. This makes me feel uncomfortable. She looks awful.”

Unimpressed with the negative comments, McCutcheon replied: “It’s one [thing] to bash me but to bash my children is a totally different ball game. This is disgusting.

“I’m asking all of you to be considerate of other people’s feelings. There are real people that read these comments and I won’t lie, it is hurtful.”

In a recent interview McCutcheon said her kids became interested in makeup after she began filming her own tutorial videos.

“In May 2016, I decided to let Molly and June record their own little make-up videos just for fun,” she said.

“They played around with the make-up and pulled faces at the camera, before I removed it all with coconut oil.

“I was really shocked to receive such cruel comments. One commented that my daughter was fat and that I should be spending more time teaching her how to eat healthily.

“Another said that I should die for letting them play with make-up and accused me of child abuse.”

She said she teaches her kids they don’t need makeup to be pretty.

“Molly loves to wear make-up but she also knows that she doesn’t need it to be pretty,” the mum added.

“I don’t think there’s any harm in young girls wearing makeup, just as long as they know they are beautiful without it. I won’t be allowing them out of the house with full makeup on until they’re mature young ladies.

“For now, both of my girls just like to play with it for fun. They have been brought up not to judge others and I can only hope that internet trolls can learn to do the same.”
