SXSW is a five day, non-stop music festival held in Austin, Texas every March. This year kicked off with a swollen schedule of over 2,000 acts that would play across 90 venues in the downtown area, and that doesn't even include the off-schedule events, sponsored gigs or panel discussions scattered around the city of Austin, also affectionately known as 'the music capital of the world'.

Although the key note speaker Bruce Springsteen brought his wealth of experience and talent to the table in an exclusive performance during the festival, there were a number of bands who also stole a little spotlight.

Thousands of industry-orientated music folk flock to the festival every year in an attempt to discover music's next big thing. Luckily for MyDailyUK readers, our roving reporter Michelle Sadlier was there at 'South By' to check out and curate a list of the best bands to watch for 2012. Below are some great videos from the bands that captured our attention: you can be sure of these guys playing a summer music festival near you soon!

1. The Tanlines

2. Django Django

3. Kimbra

4. Clock Opera

5. LP
