The military trend remains a staple this season, though this time around there's an added historical twist. The most iconic piece to define the look has to be the Burberry aviator (the jacket's oversized shearling collar and cropped waist has caused a wave of sartorial mimics to flood the high street), but there are countless other ways to channel the trend without joining the ranks.
If you want to look parade ready, seek out capes and pea coats in heavy, well cut fabrics – a garnish of polished gold buttons is a must. Form fitting dresses with fastened shoulder straps or epaulettes also work well too, especially if you want to keep things feminine.
For a more casual take, tailored cargo pants and camouflage prints work a treat. And if you don't want to go all out, there are loads military inspired accessories to choose from. As for colour, think khaki, army greens, airforce blues and navy...erm...navy. You might also like to keep things colourful with an old-school splash of red.
