'Should I Break Up With My Boyfriend?' Phone App Helps You Decide Whether To Ditch Your Partner

Not Sure If You Should Break Up With Your Partner? There’s An App For That

If you’ve been dating for a while but things have gone a bit stale of late – do you love him or leave him?

If you’ve been toying with this very dilemma - fear not, as the answer could (literally) be found through the click of a button. Or via an iPhone app to be exact.

Should I Break Up With My Boyfriend? app bypasses the need to bore friends with relationship woes and allows the confused user to track their feelings over a two-week period to assess whether it’s love… or loss.

Created by Sarah Gray, a programmer and co-founder of the self-tracking web application MercuryApp, the app provides an online diary and rating service, which is then analysed and displayed in a graph after two weeks.

The graph produces the highs and lows of the relationship based on the diary entries and mood ratings (measured by ‘neutral', ‘bad’ and ‘worst’) so the user can see whether or not the relationship is making them happy.

“Should I break up with my boyfriend? is the only app of its kind that relies on users’ own feelings as a baseline and gives a fuller picture of how they feel about their relationships,” says creator Gray.

“We‘re quick to forget or dismiss past feelings that don’t fit in with our current mood, which is why seeing larger patterns can give you insight you might not have in the moment.

“Sometimes, we need an objective voice to help us appreciate a good thing or accept something painful. And this app helps us tap into the best voice of all–the one inside ourselves”.

Would you let a phone app decide the fate of your relationship?
