Tesla Unveils Model X Electric Family Car With Falcon Wing Doors And Bio Weapon Defense Mode

Tesla's New Car Has A Bio Weapon Defense Mode In Case Of Apocalypse...Seriously
|

Tesla just found a way to make family holidays a lot more interesting.

Its new electric seven-seater, dubbed Model X, comes complete with Falcon Wing Doors and the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds with the Ludicrous Speed Upgrade. Ludicrous indeed.

Unveiled at a launch event in Fremont, California, the company's chief executive Elon Musk told an excited audience why the car could move the world closer to sustainable transport.

This is the first time the company has made an effort to reel in families as car buyers. And the effort is noticeable.

The Falcon Wing doors for example, have been designed to rise high enough to allow parents to buckle children in while standing up. No more crouching parent, hidden back ache.

Tesla also states that it uses new HEPA filter strips allowing the car to remove "pollen, bacteria, viruses and pollution" from the air before it circulates inside the vehicle.

Included in its armoury is a "bio weapon defense mode." We're not sure what kind of scenarios Musk thinks families will drive into.

However, it intended to create a positive pressure inside the cabin should the world end while you're on holiday.

Well, Musk certainly seems to think he's gone a little overboard with the car.

According to the BBC, he said: "I think we got a little carried away with the X."

"There is far more there than is really necessary to sell a car.

"And some of the things are so difficult, they make the car better but the difficulty of engineering those parts is so high."

To reserve a car, an option only available in the US at the moment, customers will need a spare $5,000 (£3294).

A European launch is expected at a later date but you might want to start saving up now.

Prices are set to be as high as $144,000 (£95,000).
