UK's Biggest Burrito Made By Bristol Students

It's A Wrap: Students Make UK's Biggest Burrito

Bristol students spiced up the city when they smashed the record for the UK's biggest burrito, beating the previous record holders by a whopping 12ft.

The Mexican meal, which took just 26 minutes to build, measured 77ft and three inches by the time it was completed. Ten Bristol University students and six staff from Mission Burrito sold the burrito in sections to raise money for local charities as part of Raising and Giving (RAG) Week.

Hungry crowds devoured the burrito, which stretched two lengths of the restaurant on Park Street, in under 15 minutes and raised more than £270.

The burrito was made from 118 overlapping 12-inch tortillas, 45kg of rice, beans, meats and salsa - all donated by the restaurant - and beat the record set by Benito's Hat in London last December, which measured 65ft.

Charities benefitting from the stunt include:

  • The Jessie May Trust
  • Caring at Christmas
  • Shopmobility South
  • Priority Youth Housing
  • The Alzheimer's Society
  • Holidays

Organiser Ben Collins said:

"Building the burrito was great fun, and we are proud to have got Bristol RAG and Mission Burrito into the record books while raising loads of money for charity."
